UK Map

Talk about a whirlwind trip that involved rental cars, airplanes, and running for trains! The advantage to travelling through the U.K. is that it's not that big and it's easy to move from place to place. The Island of Great Britain (which we visited) is comprised of three regions: England, Scotland and Wales. It's surrounded by the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea, is 35 kilometres from northwest coast of France, and is separated from mainland Europe by the English Channel. Prime Meridian starts at the Royal Greenwich Observatory and is marked at night by a laser beam emitted from the observatory.

Spent a few days in Harlow, north of London, while my husband was there for a conference with Nortel. We had rented a car so I decided to do some shopping and asked the hotel clerk to give me directions to the nearest shopping center. She said it's just a few miles down the road. I drove about 35-40 miles, on the left side, through about 6 round-abouts and a toll booth - I was almost too exhausted to shop once I arrived - well almost - shopped and returned back to the hotel safely. Never drove again while I was in Britain.
