Malaysia Map

The Federation of Malaysia is a country in Southeast Asia. Peninsular Malaysia (where I travelled) is bordered by Thailand in the North and Singapore in the South and surrounded by the South China Sea. Malaysian culture is a mixture of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous tribes. I love Malaysia and Malay people; there is a little of something for everyone in this country and also incredibly easy to travel around in.

Hike Around the Island ~ 29 Apr 1997
I didn't sleep very well last night. I've learned a very important lesson: don't give a young Malaysian a beer, a guitar and a Karaoke machine because he spends the entire night playing the same notes...

The Four Hour Hike ~ 01 May 1997
Mari is sick and I'm convinced she has quinine poisoning from her malaria medication. I stopped taking my malaria medication somewhere in India because it was having nasty effects on my stomach. Be...

Catch of the Day ~ 03 May 1997
A huge catch was made today of barracudas, rays and red snappers. I watched them be cleaned and gutted. The ray was difficult to gut because of a huge bone that runs through its core. First the boys...

I moved to an A-frame on the edge of the lagoon. It is five Ringgits cheaper and it is much quieter than being in the long house with all the karaoke boys. The only problem is I have to deal with the ...
